  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 24 extra chocolate chunks or full-size chocolate pieces

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing well after each addition.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the 2 cups of chocolate chips.
  • Scoop out a generous tablespoon of dough. Flatten it slightly in your palm and place a chocolate chunk in the center. Carefully fold the dough around the chocolate, sealing it completely and rolling it into a ball. Place it on your prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining dough, spacing the balls about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers still look soft.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for at least 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
