Ingredients
Scale
1 cup warm water (110°F)
2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 large egg
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
4 cloves garlic, finely minced
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
1 tablespoon fresh grated Parmesan cheese
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Activate the Yeast: In the bowl of your stand mixer, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
Make the Dough: Add the flour, salt, softened butter, and egg to the yeast mixture. Using the dough hook, mix on low until combined, then knead on medium for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
First Rise: Shape the dough into a ball, place in a lightly oiled bowl, and turn to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Shape the Rolls: Punch down the risen dough. Roll it out on a floured surface into a ½-inch thick rectangle. Cut into 12-15 equal strips, roll each into a coil, and place in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
Second Rise: Cover the baking dish and let the shaped rolls rise for 30-45 minutes until puffed up.
Prepare the Garlic Butter: While the rolls rise, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, Parmesan, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the risen rolls with about half of the garlic butter. Bake for 18-22 minutes until golden brown.
Butter and Serve: As soon as the rolls come out of the oven, brush them with the remaining garlic butter. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
