Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Instructions

  • Activate the Yeast: In the bowl of your stand mixer, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • Make the Dough: Add the flour, salt, softened butter, and egg to the yeast mixture. Using the dough hook, mix on low until combined, then knead on medium for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • First Rise: Shape the dough into a ball, place in a lightly oiled bowl, and turn to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  • Shape the Rolls: Punch down the risen dough. Roll it out on a floured surface into a ½-inch thick rectangle. Cut into 12-15 equal strips, roll each into a coil, and place in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  • Second Rise: Cover the baking dish and let the shaped rolls rise for 30-45 minutes until puffed up.
  • Prepare the Garlic Butter: While the rolls rise, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, Parmesan, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
  • Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the risen rolls with about half of the garlic butter. Bake for 18-22 minutes until golden brown.
  • Butter and Serve: As soon as the rolls come out of the oven, brush them with the remaining garlic butter. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
